WHAT HAPPENS IF I GO INTO HOSPITAL?
If you are admitted as a patient, please ensure the Chaplains’ Office is informed that you would like to be visited by a Catholic Minister. This has to be done by you or a relative. Tel. 0161 276 4247 (Central Manchester Hospitals).
PLEASE WRAP UP WARM: Presently we must have the Church doors open to provide ventilation against COVID. As you will have noticed the temperature is beginning to fall and it is unlikely that we will put the heating on whilst having doors open. Please put on some layers and stay warm!!
CELEBRATION OF FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
St. Mary’s: The final group of children who were part of our Sacramental Programme 2019-2020 will celebrate their First Communion on Wednesday 4th November at 6.30pm.
St. Richard’s: On Thursday, 5th November at 6pm the second of four Masses at St. Richard’s Church will see children mainly in Y4 (who missed out due to the pandemic) will receive the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will only be a maximum of five family members allowed per child (6 in total, including the child) all of whom must be from the same household support bubble. Each family bench will be 2 metres apart from the next family, and there will be hand sanitisers at the entrances and exits of church. Face coverings must be worn during Mass by anyone over the age of 11 unless they are exempt. Please remember all the children and their families in your prayers as they finally celebrate this special occasion.
NOVEMBER HOLY SOULS LIST: St. Mary’s Church have normally had an All Souls box placed in front of the Altar at each Mass throughout the month of November. This year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are asking you to put your lists for your deceased loved ones in the All Souls box which will be displayed on a table in front of the church organ during the month of November. The Holy Souls lists for you to complete are available on the tables as you leave church.
PARISH FINANCE: I am most grateful to those parishioners who have been making their contributions regularly during this time. Since we are not allowed to pass the collection bags around during Mass you will see a basket at the exit doors for your offerings & gift aid envelopes for the church.
A simple way to make a regular offering to the parish is to make a Standing Order through your bank. Standing Order Forms are available from the office at St. Mary’s or from Fr. Dever. For those who pay Income Tax a Gift Aid Form is also available. This allows the tax you have already paid on your weekly offering to be repaid to our parish. So if you give a £1 the parish will receive £1.20p. I would encourage anyone who can to consider signing a standing order for the parish. With thanks for all your help and understanding in these very difficult times.
CHRISTMAS: This will be the first year that our parish has not had a Christmas Fair or any other social gathering or fundraising event. Apart from the fact that it raises money for the parish, it has been an important time for parishioners and friends to be together and it is sad this year, due to restrictions, that we cannot do this. If you have any ideas for fundraising e.g. a Christmas raffle or if you could donate any prizes etc. and have time to organise something please let Fr. Dever know.
