SAD NEWS: We have heard of the recent death of Canon Paul Mitcheson who died suddenly at the Sisters of the Poor in Longsight. Fr. Mitcheson was in his eighty fourth year, the sixtieth year of his priesthood. Parishioners remember him warmly of his time as Assistant Priest at St. Mary’s from 1960-1970. Bishop Brain celebrated the Requiem Mass at the Cathedral on Thursday 8th August. May he rest in peace.

HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION
Next Thursday August 15th is the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady into heaven. The Masses will be 9.30am at St Mary’s and 6.30pm at St. Richard’s.

ROSARY IN PLATT FIELDS PARK: Annual Rosary and Hymns (including Gospel singer, Tom McCourt) at Platt Fields Park (Grangethorpe Road entrance), Manchester on Saturday 7th September at 3pm. GARDENING VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: Can you spare an hour Related imageor two at St. Mary’s during the week to help maintain the lawns and flower beds. Weeding of the flower beds is a major priority. HIRE OF ST. MARY’S PARISH CENTRE: The centre is available for private functions such as Wedding Receptions, Christenings, Conferences and Meetings, Over 21 Birthday Parties and Funeral Receptions.
