Feasts of the Week

Monday 9th March: Saint Frances of Rome

Saint Frances of Rome: Frances was born in Rome in 1384, was married and had three children. She was known for her exemplary love of the sick, ministering to the victims of the frequent epidemics among the poor. She founded a Congregation in 1425 to continue this work and died in 1440.

Pray for the Sick and Housebound especially for those who are known to you. May the Good Lord strengthen and comfort them. Pray also for all who care for the sick.

Grant eternal rest to those who have died recently.

Cornelius Kenneally

LENT – Our Lenten journey reaches the half way stage this week. Below is a little reminder of the little extras we can do.

Prayer: Daily Mass

Stations of the Cross on Sunday at 6pm in St. Mary’s.

Churches Together in Levenshulme next Wednesday evening 11th March at 7.30pm at Levenshulme Baptist Church (Elmsworth Ave).

Lenten Station Masses: The St. Ambrose Barlow Deanery invites you next Thursday, 12th March to St. Bernard’s, Burnage at 7.30pm. (With Bishop John Arnold). Confessions available before Mass.

We welcome the children and parents to today’s Mass (Sunday) and congratulate the children on receiving their First Forgiveness last Thursday evening; as always the children were a credit to their parents, catechists and teachers. The date of Confirmation is Thursday, 16th April at 7pm and First Holy Communion on Sunday, 14th June at 1pm. Holy Week and Easter come before those days so parents do make the effort to participate with your children in the celebration of Holy Week.

PASSOVER MEAL will take place on Wednesday, 1st April at 7.15pm in St. Mary’s Parish Centre. All are welcome to this event as part of our Holy Week reflections which commemorates the last meal Jesus shared with his twelve apostles and the Jewish festival of Passover. To avoid disappointment and to make sure everyone is accommodated tickets will be issued for the Passover Meal. The tickets are FREE but need to be produced on the night. Anyone who would like a ticket please contact Marie Sartini on 07747 851 239.

Tickets are still available for a Full Irish Breakfast next Sunday, 15th March in St. Mary’s Parish Centre. Breakfast will be served after the 11 o’clock Mass. Tickets £6 per person. Bar available.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY CELEBRATION Come along and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, 17th March from 12noon till 3pm in St. Mary’s Parish Centre. We have an afternoon of song and dance with DJ Andy Murphy, Justine Ward Irish Dancers and special guest appearance Kevin Prendegast. Irish TV in attendance. Irish Stew and buffet also served.

St. Mary’s G.A.A. Under 16s Club are hoping to take the children away later in the year, so as part of our fundraising we are having a Race Night on Friday, 27th March from 7.30pm – 11.00pm.
