Saint Jerome Emiliani: like other saints, Jerome started adult life as a soldier, but after capture and imprisonment he left his military career and began to serve the poor; in 1532 he founded the ‘Order of Clerks Regular of Somaschi’ to serve the poor and needy. He died in 1537.

 

Pray for the Sick and Housebound and those who are known to you especially John Murray, Tommy Kenny and Martin Tarpey. May the Good Lord strengthen and comfort them. Pray also for all who care for the sick.

LENT BEGINS ON WEDNESDAY: Lent is a period of soul searching and repentance, a season for reflection and taking stock. By observing for forty days of Lent as a time for Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal to the desert.

During Lent we will have Stations of the Cross at 6pm on Sundays at St. Mary’s.

Next weekend there will be a second collection for CAFOD.

 

“RICH IN MERCY” – an SSG Study Day

In the Jubilee Year of Divine Mercy the Society of Saint Gregory (SSG) is holding a series of study days with talks, reflections and workshops. All are welcome, particularly anyone involved in parish ministry, or wishing to reflect on what the Jubilee Year means for parishes.

When? Saturday, 27th February (10am to 4pm)

Where? Cathedral Centre, Ford St, Salford M3 6DP

This is a great way to raise funds for both parishes and also gives back something to its members. In fact the monthly draw gives back 50% of its income to members.
