BACK TO SCHOOL: Next week we welcome pupils and staff back at the beginning of another academic year.

Our best wishes to the boys and girls who have left St. Richard’s and St. Mary’s to begin their secondary education.

Next Sunday, 9th September is this year’s Education Sunday. The Catholic Education Service’s theme for Education Sunday 2018 is ‘Ephphatha – Be Opened!’ Education Sunday is an opportunity for schools and parishes to come together to celebrate and give thanks for all the students, staff and parents who work so hard and for Catholic schools. It is also a chance for us to reflect upon the contribution that Catholic education makes to our communities. There will be a second collection to support the work of Catholic schools next weekend.

LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR representatives will be selling raffle tickets next weekend 8th/9th September at both St. Richard’s and St. Mary’s at the Saturday evening Masses and Sunday morning Masses.

REGULAR ACTIVITIES RESUME again after the summer break in St. Mary’s Community Centre next week. The two exceptions are Tom Cliff’s Classes and Irish Community Care Social Group; they will both resume on Tuesday, 11th September. A full list of all the regular activities can be found on the table in the church porch.

JOY: THE SURPRISE OF THE GOSPEL: Saturday 6th October 2018 10.00am – 5.00pm at Salford Cathedral and Centre. Joy: the Surprise of the Gospel is a Scripture Festival. The day is designed to offer a taste of scripture to a wide range of people across the North of England. As well as keynote speakers who will bring insights into how the scriptures offer us joy and hope, there will be a variety of workshops for people to explore the Bible in different ways.
