Saint Peter Julian Eymard: born in France in 1811, ordained in 1834; after 20 years in the Society of Mary he was dispensed from vows to found the “Priests of the Blessed Sacrament”, dedicated to fostering devotion to the Blessed Eucharist. St. John Vianney assisted him in his labours. Peter died in 1868.

SECOND COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND

There will be a second collection in parishes this weekend to support ‘Day for Life. Proceeds of the collection will go to The Anscombe Bioethics Centre (formerly the Linacre Centre for Healthcare Ethics) and other life-related activities supported by the Church.

 

EVENING RECEPTION will take place on Tuesday, 29th July at 7:30pm of Michael Brennan.

 

 

GRATEFUL THANKS

During the last week or two all the outside of the parish centre has been repainted, including replacing some of the damaged timber panels. Our sincere thanks go to Tom Ahern (no relation to Fr. Ahern for doing such a splendid job.

Also our parish hall floor has been sanded and re-lacquered to protect the floor against wear, scratches and stains, and help to make it easier to maintain. A big thank-you to the company who did the work so professionally.

Prizes can be claimed at the weekend Masses from the Presbytery or from the Parish Office weekdays between 9am – 1.30pm.

 

IRISH COMMUNITY CARE TUESDAY GROUP will break up for the summer holidays next Tuesday, 29th July. They will resume back on Tuesday 9th September.

 

TONBRIDGE ALLOTMENT SHOW

Why not come along to the Tonbridge Road Allotment Society’s Summer Show next Saturday, 2nd August at St. Mary’s Parish Centre from 2pm – 5pm. Included will be the following:

  • Willow weaving
  •  Children’s music workshop with Claire Mooney
  • Face painting
  • Cookery demonstrations
  • Advice on growing your own produce
  • Fruit & Vegetable auction of allotment produce Refreshments & Bar also available

 

PRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUP 

Bookings now being taken for September 2014 for the Little Angels Pre-School Playgroup. The playgroup is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30am – 11:30am for girls and boys aged from 2years of age.  All staff and volunteers are CRB checked. Our thoughts are with the families of Michael Brennan and Patrick (Pat) Scally as they face the harrowing task of parting from their loved ones. We assure them of our prayers and companionship through their triail. May God comfort them.
