ST. MARY’S SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME: Each year in January the parish begins its preparation for the sacraments of First Forgiveness and First Holy Communion. The programme starts at St. Mary’s School next Wednesday 23rd January at 7.00pm for the parents and children for First Communion preparation. Please pray for them as they make their journey through the programme.

PEACE SUNDAY: Today the Church in England and Wales celebrates ‘Peace Sunday’, reflecting on the theme chosen by Pope Francis for the ‘World Day of Peace’. This year he reminds that ‘Good politics serves peace’.

MARRIAGE: The start of a new year is a good time to remind any couples who are thinking of getting married that they must give at least six months’ notice to the parish priest. This allows time for preparation to be undertaken and for all necessary paperwork to be completed. Each year, on a Saturday close to St. Valentine’s Day, Bishop John holds a special service at the Cathedral for engaged couples – a Liturgy of Blessing. This year’s celebration will be at 3pm on Saturday, 9th February.

VOCATIONS WEEKEND FOR YOUNG WOMEN
Theme: Follow your Heart – Discernment and Vocations

THE NATIONAL PILGRIM VIRGIN STATUE OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA along with Relics of Saints Jacinta and Francisco will visit the Cathedral of St. John, Chapel Street, Salford M3 5LE on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th February. A series of events and services are planned across the two days, including a special Mass on the Sunday at 11am which Bishop John will preside over.

CATHOLIC MEDIAL ASSOICATION: All healthcare workers are invited to join the Catholic Medical Association which meets at St. Mary’s Church every third Tuesday of the month (October to June) at 7.30pm for Mass, mutual support and speaker-led discussions about medical and ethical issues. LEGION OF MARY GROUP meet each Thursday after the 9.30am Mass in St. Mary’s Meeting Room. All Welcome.

BINGO: Bingo Night is held every Sunday at 8pm in the Lounge area of St. Mary’s Community Centre. Come along and join us.

ST. RICHARD’S COFFEE MORNING is held every Wednesday in the Sacristy after the 9.15am morning Mass. Everyone welcome to come along.
