HOLY COMMUNION AT HOME: Eucharistic Ministers are once more able to visit people in their own home in order to give Holy Communion to anyone who is unable to come to church. All our ministers have been DBS checked and will have taken precautions to ensure they do not carry the Covid virus. If you know of anyone who would like to receive Holy Communion, please ask the person’s permission and then give their name, address and phone number to Fr. Dever or the parish office. We will then make contact by phone to arrange when we can visit.

WEDDING BELLS: Congratulations to Anthony Nicholls and Caroline Walkin who were married at St. Mary’s over the weekend. We wish them every success and happiness in the years ahead. Our prayers go with them.

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER: Please take a copy of the newsletter home to remind you of the times of services and events during the week. Please give a copy to anyone you know who is sick or housebound

GOLDEN JUBILEE: I was very pleased with the Celebration Mass and the social get together afterwards in the hall. It was certainly a day to remember. Many people were involved with all the preparations. The Jubilee booklet, the Liturgy, the music, the flowers, and the people who looked after the car park. In the Parish Centre all those who set up the hall, prepared the buffet, music, raffle and the bar staff. My sincere thanks to everyone who made the day possible and so enjoyable and memorable. I would also like to thank everyone for their prayers, good wishes, cards and many gifts.

CONFIRMATION: We have not celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation for several years because Bishop John has changed the age to thirteen and older. We now need to begin preparation for this sacrament. Would teenagers who have not already been Confirmed please enter their name, address and phone number on the sheet at the back of church. Due to there being so many High Schools it is very difficult to find all those children who are over thirteen years of age. Once we know how many, we can then begin to arrange dates and times for the preparation and for the Confirmation Mass.

HOUSE WANTED FOR A REFUGEE FAMILY: The Community Sponsorship Group, made up of people from several South Manchester parishes and based at St. Catherine’s parish, has helped a Syrian refugee family settle in South Manchester after arriving three and a half years ago. If any parishioner has a property in South Manchester or the Heaton’s which could be made available for long-term letting at the Local Housing Allowance, please consider working with the group. The group have been very effective in helping prepare the accommodation, liaising with landlord, local authority, and other agencies to ensure a settled and continuing tenancy. Contact Patrick O’Brien on 07851 355 170 for an informal discussion.
