Thurs. 19th March: St Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Saint Patrick: Born in around 385; as a youth he was taken captive to Ireland as a slave and worked as a herdsman. After making his escape he wished to become a priest and after being made Bishop for Ireland he was untiring in preaching the Gospel and he converted many to the faith. It is believed he died in 461, and was buried at Downpatrick.

 

Pray for the Sick and Housebound especially Andrew Molloy, Margaret Shorrocks and those who are known to you. May the Good Lord strengthen and comfort them. Pray also for all who care for the sick.

Grant eternal rest to those who have died recently.

ST. RICHARD’S SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME

We welcome the children to the 5pm Vigil Mass and congratulate them on receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We remember them and their parents in our prayers as they prepare for the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion.

 

LENTEN STATION MASSES

The St. Ambrose Barlow Deanery invites you next Thursday, 19th March to St. Joseph’s, Longsight at 7pm. (For the Feast of St. Joseph). Why not make these celebrations into a Lenten Retreat? Confessions available before Mass.

 

ST. MARY’S READERS’ MEETING

A Readers’ Meeting will be held in church on Thursday, 26th March at 6.45pm to arrange readers to cover for Holy Week.

Will all readers please do their best to attend?

 

PASSOVER MEAL will take place on Wednesday, 1st April at 7.15pm in St. Mary’s Parish Centre. All are welcome to this event as part of our Holy Week reflections which commemorates the last meal Jesus shared with his twelve apostles and the Jewish festival of Passover. To avoid disappointment and to make sure everyone is accommodated tickets will be issued for the Passover Meal. The tickets are FREE but need to be produced on the night. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

There will be a meeting on Saturday, 21st March from 9.00am to 1.00pm at St. Cuthbert’s Church Hall, Palatine Road, Withington to look at the work of the S.V.P. All welcome. For further information please telephone Ann on 0161 445 5104.

 

ST. PATRICK’S DAY CELEBRATION

Come along and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, 17th March from 12noon till 3pm in St. Mary’s Parish Centre. We have an afternoon of song and dance with DJ Andy Murphy, Justine Ward Irish Dancers and special guest appearance Kevin Prendegast. Irish TV in attendance. Irish Stew and buffet also served. FREE ADMISSION.

 

IRISH NIGHT

The Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Joseph’s Home, 52 Plymouth Grove West, Longsight are holding a Irish Evening on Friday, 20th March at 7.30pm. Entertainment by the Westpoint Duo. Tickets £6 which includes a choice of hot food.
