ST. MARY’S SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME

Today (Sunday) at the 11 o’clock Mass we welcome our children and their families. First Confessions will be on Thursday, 5th March at 7pm. Many thanks to all involved in preparing the programme, your help is much appreciated.

 

LENT BEGINS ON WEDNESDAY

Lent is a period of soul searching and repentance, a season for reflection and taking stock. By observing for forty days of Lent as a time for Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal to the desert.

During Lent we will have the following opportunities on offer:

 

  •  PRAYER: Daily Mass (see times)

        Stations of the Cross at 6pm. Sundays at St. Mary’s

 

  • FASTING: All people between the ages of 10-60yrs. are asked to ‘deny’ themselves. Abstain from some preferred food e.g. chocolates, sweet things. On Friday’s just have one main meal, no meat?

 

  • ALMSGIVING: Throughout Lent our second collection will go to CAFOD.

 

HALF TERM FAMILY NIGHT 

A Family Night in aid of St. Mary’s G.A.A. Levenshulme will be held in St. Mary’s Parish Centre next Friday, 20th February from 7.30pm. DJ Jimmy, fun and games for all the family, plus licence bar, raffles and food provided. Tickets £1 from Brenda Harkin on 07746 798 609 or pay on the door.

 

PRE ST. PATRICK’S DAY FULL IRISH BREAKFAST

Sunday, 15th March at 12noon in St. Mary’s Parish Centre. Bar available. Tickets £6 obtainable from the parish centre after Mass on Sunday’s.

 

This year Cornerstone will be hosting a Big Sleep-Out in support of the thousands of people who have to endure sleeping rough on our streets. This is your opportunity to help homeless men and women in and around Manchester. COMMUNITY WALKING GROUP

Eight of us met in St. Mary’s Car Park for our first walk/stroll around Cringle Park last Wednesday morning. There were a few aches and pains at the end, (no names mentioned) but everyone enjoyed it. Be sure to join us next Wednesday, 18th February at 11am. Meet up in St. Mary’s car park.
