ETHIOPIA FOOD CRISIS: Ethiopia is in the grip of its worst drought in recent history. The ongoing El Niño-influenced weather pattern has resulted in failed crops and livestock dying. As a result, 10 million people are in need of immediate food assistance and nearly 2.2 million people are suffering from malnutrition. We need to act now to prevent a far more terrible crisis. Please give to the second collection today for CAFOD’s emergency humanitarian response. And please pray for those who are suffering.

GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION: St. Mary’s Parish will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Fr. John Ahern’s Ordination (12th June) with a Celebratory Mass next Saturday 18th June at 6.30pm. During the Mass, a collection will be taken up for the St. James Society Formation Centre for Lima in Peru. After Mass Fr. John invites you all over to the parish centre for light refreshments and get together.

DAY FOR LIFE COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND: Last year in India was the hottest on record. Over 4,500 people in India and Pakistan died during last summer’s heatwave. Rising temperatures are making droughts more severe and floods more intense. The poor always suffer most. Pope Francis reminds us that we are one human family sharing a common home, dependent upon one another and the whole of creation. It is our duty to “pay special attention to the most vulnerable”. Please give to the second collection next weekend.

ST. RICHARD’S SUMMER FAIR: The Parish Summer Fair is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year and this year’s fair promises to be fun-packed with the usual variety of stalls and refreshments. Donations required for the stalls, particularly the ‘Good as New’ and the Bottle stall. Come along and join in the fun on Sunday, 26th June at 12noon in the gardens in front of St. Richard’s Church. Bring your friends – we look forward to seeing you!

We are looking for donations for our Tombola Stall of bottles, chocolates etc. but any suitable product you could donate would be much appreciated. A box is at the back of church for donations.
