LENTEN SERVICE OF RECONCILIATION: This will take place on Tuesday at 7.30pm in St. Mary’s Church. This is the first time in over 2 years that we have been able to have a Penance Service. I hope that parishioners will come in good numbers to receive God’s forgiveness in time for Easter.

HOLY WEEK: Today is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week, the greatest week in the Year. It is when we Christians remember the last week of Jesus’ life; it is the most important time in our liturgical year. We hope to welcome as many parishioners as possible to our Easter services whilst continuing to operate in a Covid-safe way. For the last 2 years our Holy Week and Easter Services have been restricted because of the Pandemic, but this year we are allowed to return to our usual timetable of Masses and Services.

Maundy Thursday, this will be at St. Mary’s and St. Richard’s at 7.30pm. After the Mass of the Lord’s Supper watching at the Altar of Repose takes place until 10.00pm. You are welcome to come along to spend time before the Lord on this night when Jesus said to the disciples: ‘Could you not watch one hour with me?’

Good Friday: There will be Stations of the Cross at St. Mary’s at 10.30am. The Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion will be at St. Mary’s and St. Richard’s at 3pm. All as usual except there will be no kissing of the Cross, instead parishioners to just touch the Cross.

On Good Friday there will be a Collection taken for the Holy Places of Palestine.

Holy Saturday: Easter Vigil and First Mass of Easter, this will be at St. Richard’s at 7.30pm and St. Mary’s at 8pm.
